Collaboration with Mercury
Mercury’s chamber musicians give a concert of one of Mozart’s best-loved works, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, a serenade known as A Little Night Music. The evening includes a discussion with Mercury’s Artistic Director, Antoine Plante, as well as a post-concert reception and meet-and-greet with the artists. This ticketed event is part of Mercury’s Neighborhood Series.

Musicians Kim Myhr, Ingar Zach, and Jim Denley form the trio MURAL, which returns for a third improvisational performance at the Rothko Chapel. On this occasion, their improvisation will be in response to the changing light in the Chapel. Audience members are encouraged to enjoy the music and light for as long as they want.

Museum Day: Landscape Scrolls, 2012-09-15
John Lane on percussion
The Rothko Chapel will present John Lane, DMA, on percussion in a piece called Landscape Scrolls composed for him by Peter Garland. Performed at intervals throughout the day, the five-movement, concert length work traces the changing light of day. Lane is a professor of percussion at Sam Houston State University and previously performed at the Rothko Chapel with Intersection New Music Collective.
