Abstract

Dr. Hansa Medley, Hindu Tradition

Gaudiya Vaishnavism (also known as Hare Krishna) is a branch of Hinduism that holds devotional worship of God as its main focus. According to holy texts, the prescribed method of developing one’s relationship with the Divine is to meditate upon His name. This meditation on the holy names of God can be practiced both individually on a rosary and collectively with musical accompaniment. This meditation will provide the participant an experience of both. Hansa Bhakti Medley M.D. has been practicing Gaudiya Vaisnavism since 1981 under the guidance of H.H. Tamal Krishna Goswami, a disciple of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of the Hare Krishna Movement. In addition to being the Director of Outreach for the Hare Krishna Temple where she serves as a teacher, priest and advisor, she also works as primary care physician.

Experience the contemplative side of the world’s great religious traditions with guided meditations offering an opportunity for healing and spiritual development. The series is co-sponsored by Ligmincha Texas Institute, The Jung Center of Houston, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, and the Rothko Chapel.
