Abstract

The Eastern Orthodox Christian Church describes the Lenten season as a journey, a pilgrimage to Easter. Founded and directed by Dr. William Attra, the St. Romanos Chorale is composed of singers from several Orthodox Christian Churches in the greater Houston area. Performed a capella, the program will begin with music from the Triodion, a period of three weeks prior to the start of the Lenten season, then proceed through Lent into Holy Week and the Passion of Christ. The program will conclude with the Resurrection of Christ as presented in “Christ is Risen from the Dead” sung in the four major languages (Greek, Arabic, English, Slavonic) of the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church.
