Sylvia Brooks is the former Executive Director of the Houston Urban League. Omawale Luthuli Allen is a well known and respected human rights activist. Rev. Dr. D. Z. Cofield serves as the Senior Pastor of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, a 143-year old Texas Landmark Church. Texas State Representative Harold Dutton is a distinguished representative of Houston. Dr. Mtangulizi Sanyika is a New Orleanian community leader and former professor at Dillard University and TSU. Each of them played a significant role in receiving and servicing Orleanianian evacuees in Houston. A reception follows the program.
