"The Zoroastrian World View and its Echoes in Christianity and Islam."
Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 7:30 pm
Dr. Philip Kreyenbroek, head of Iranian studies at the University of Goettingen in Germany, is a leading specialist on the Kurds and the Yezidis of Turkey and northern Iraq. He is especially interested in Zoroastrianism and its textual tradition, Sufism, Yezidism, and oral literatures in Iranian cultures, and has published extensively on several of these subjects.
In 1991, the Dutch scholar and adventurer, Kreyenbroek and photographer Mary Ann Bruni, one of the Chapel's sponsors, were among the first Westerners to visit the Yezidi’s holy city of Lalish in Iraqi Kurdistan, which had been closed to the West for more than 70 years. This program is co-sponsored by the Zoroastrian community.
