Abstract

American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America Chris Hedges Monday, September 25, 2006 at 7:30 PM

Due to the overwhelming response for this event, Mr. Hedges will repeat his lecture at 8:45 pm tonight. A reception will be held from 7:45 pm to 9:15 pm. Renowned war correspondent and author, Chris Hedges, will speak on the topic of his upcoming book American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America on September 25, 2006 at 7:30 pm at The Rothko Chapel.

Hedges is the author of the National Book Critics Circle Award finalist, War is a Force that Gives Us Meaning and What Every Person Should Know About War. His newest book will be published in January 2007 by Free Press.

Hedges was a foreign correspondent for fifteen years. He joined the staff of The New York Times in 1990 and previously worked for The Dallas Morning News, The Christian Science Monitor, and National Public Radio. He holds a B.A. in English Literature from Colgate University and a Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School. He has taught at Columbia University, New York University, and Princeton University. Hedges was a member of The New York Times team that won the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting for the paper’s coverage of global terrorism, and he received the 2002 Amnesty International Global Award for Human Rights Journalism. He lives outside of Princeton, New Jersey.
