Abstract
World Refugee Day
An Interfaith Service of Thankfulness and Remembrance
The Rothko Chapel
Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at 7:30 pm
In 2000 the United Nations designated June 20th as World Refugee Day. Annually people around the world celebrate, advocate for, and educate others about refugees. This year the 2007 Houston World Refugee Day Committee will hold an interfaith service in the Rothko Chapel. Spiritual leaders from refugee communities in Houston will offer prayers of thankfulness for the safe arrival of those now in their new homes and prayers of remembrance for those still suffering in other parts of the world.
All are welcome to attend.
Seating is limited and is available on a first-come-first-served basis. To ask questions or to RSVP so that we can plan attendance numbers please email: wrdhouston@yahoo.com.
The Houston WRD Committee includes representatives from the Alliance for Multicultural Community Services, Boat People SOS, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese for Greater Houston, Interfaith Ministries, YMCA International Services, Houston Community College, Houston Independent School District, the Houston Grand Opera, and the United Nations Association.
