Join us on the Plaza for music by renowned Houston mariachi group, Mariachi Imperial de America.
Mariachi Imperial de America delights audiences with engaging, energetic, and diverse music. Led by Jose Longoria and including his sons, Mariachi Imperial de America's members represent various regions of Mexico including Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas, and San Luis Potosi. The band's repertoire consists of a diverse mixture of music inspired by different genres of Latin and mariachi music, which often includes covers of various artists such as Juan Gabriel, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, and Vicente Fernandez. Mariachi Imperial has released three albums, been televised nationally, and received numerous awards, including "Houston's Best Mariachi" from Houston Press in 2005. Mariachi Imperial de America have appeared on Good Morning America, were part of the Selena Vive concert, a tribute to the late Selena Quintanilla at Houston's Reliant Stadium, and they have performed internationally from Armenia to India to China.
