Party of the Week
Rothko Chapel Fundraiser Guests Fill New Restaurant
People are naturally drawn to buzzy restaurants—and even more so when a good cause is involved. A fundraiser was recently held in Houston at the new eatery designed by Barcelona interior designer Lazaro Rosa Violan. The interiors were a major topic of discussion throughout the evening, with honorary chair Lynn Wyatt remarking, “I’m mad for Mad!” The event drew nearly $130,000 for the Rothko Chapel’s Opening Spaces capital campaign.

Houston Welcomes Famed Dallas Florist
Houston designers in need of a unique arrangement will have a new source when Todd Fiscus’s Avant Garden shop opens up shop in the Bayou City. The famed Dallas flower store is Gwyneth Paltrow–approved—Goop named it one of the best florists in the country. Now, it's bringing its exotic orchids and sculptural arrangements to a 2,500-square foot space, opening September 17 in River Oaks District.
"Five years ago, Houston became an extension of a city I proudly call home, and it's an honor to introduce a concept so dear to my heart that was created specifically with Houstonians in mind," Todd Fiscus tells AD PRO. "I'm excited to have this platform where I can share my passion so personally with the city.”

Douglas Elliman Gets Fitted for Its Cowboy Boots at New Houston Office
At long last, Douglas Elliman has expanded to the Lone Star State. The brokerage announced a joint venture with Sudhoff Companies in Houston. “Houston has arrived in relation to the other major markets,” Jacob Sudhoff of Sudhoff Companies told PaperCity as a means of explaining Douglas Elliman's decision. The Houston office will have 50 brokers, and the firm plans to expand the resale division, eventually moving into Dallas and Austin.
