Price drops $2 million on Mithoff mansion in River Oaks, 2018-09-05

The list price for Houston philanthropist and personal injury lawyer Richard Mithoff's River Oaks estate has dropped $2 million, according to a new HAR.com listing posted this week.
The mansion at 2930 Lazy Lane Boulevard was originally priced at $19.5 million when it went on the public market in 2017. For a few months prior, the private list price was $21.5 million, the Houston Chronicle's Nancy Sarnoff reported previously. It's now listed for $17.5 million.

Mithoff and his wife, Ginni Mithoff, have owned the home since 1994. The 1965 house was designed by Howard Barnstone and Eugene Aubry, who worked on the Rothko Chapel. Aubry also designed the Wortham Theater Center.

Mary Ralph Lowe, oil executive and daughter of Ralph Lowe, owned the home from 1987 to 1994, appraisal district records show.
Located on one of Houston's wealthiest streets, the wooded, 5-acre estate includes a guest house and pool, in addition to the 11,676-square-foot home.
Large windows provide a view of the property's treetops, and a 16-foot granite fountain welcomes guests at the front entry.
