The tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina marks an unique opportunity to reflect on and examine how residents and institutions of one great American city provided humanitarian assistance to another great American city in distress, even in the midst of racial, class and cultural differences. Join civic leaders and community members in this timely discussion, including opportunities for contemplation and participation. Sylvia Brooks is the former Executive Director of the Houston Urban League. Omawale Luthuli Allen is a well known and respected human rights activist. Rev. Dr. D. Z. Cofield serves as the Senior Pastor of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, a 143-year old Texas Landmark Church. Texas State Representative Harold Dutton is a distinguished representative of Houston. Dr. Mtangulizi Sanyika is a New Orleanian community leader and former professor at Dillard University and TSU. Each of them played a significant role in receiving and servicing Orleanianian evacuees in Houston. A reception follows the program. Video by Runaway Productions
