The publication is the result of 16 years of research conducted by the Menil Foundation and distributed by William Morrow and Company including three volumes: Volume I covers the pharoahs of Egypt through the fall of the Roman Empire; Volumes II and III concentrate on the early Christian era to the Age of Discovery and from the sixteenth century Europe to nineteenth century America.
