Abstract

Romero Award recipients Sister Dianna Ortiz and Bishop Medardo Gomez explore the intersections between human rights, religion, poverty, and torture. Sister Ortiz founded the Torture Abolition and Survivors Support Coalition (T.A.S.S.C.) in Washington D.C. Bishop Medardo Gomez actively supports the poor and displaced people of El Salvador. Rev. Joe Eldridge, Chaplain of American University and Rothko Chapel Board Member, will moderate this discussion. Thomas Quigley, former Latin American Policy Advisor for The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, will respond.
