Abstract
Sonja Bruzauskas, Mezzo Soprano
Presented by Divas World Productions
"Tonal Transcendence" is a program that reflects one of the primary goals of the Rothko Chapel-the advancement of human rights. This concert will feature music by composers responding to political oppression-whether personally experienced or as a testimony to the suffering of others. Political systems often attempt to use art as a means of control, and some of the most remarkable music of the 20th century was composed out of a desire to transcend oppression.
Ms. Sonja Bruzauskas, Mezzo Soprano, will be featured at this Song Salon. Praised for her 'lustrous' voice with 'gorgeous timbre' and 'youthful vigor', Ms. Bruzauskas 'entrances audiences' throughout the United States. She holds a diploma in Voice, Dance and Acting from the 'Folkwang Hochschule' in Essen, Germany, and a Master of Music degree in Opera from 'Manhattan School of Music' where she studied with Marlena Malas. Ms. Bruzauskas serves as Artistic Director and Vice President for the non-profit organization Divas World Productions.
