Abstract
Dr. Jerry Ruhl, Modern Tradition
Suggested donation $10
Participants are invited to experience the power of presence in this meditation. Presence can be soothing or stimulating, intrusive or spacious. It is the ground from which healing emerges. Presence fills nature. Certain landscapes – mountains, trees, rocks, bodies of water – bind us beyond our understanding to something majestic and profound. Unfortunately, in our busy lives, we may only become mindful of our daily need for presence through its absence – an emptiness of being , disconnection, meaninglessness, distress. Embodied presence injects an unpredictable quality that creates new, unexpected possibilities – anything can happen when we open to the power of presence. Jerry M. Ruhl, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Houston. He serves as Executive Director of The Jung Center of Houston and adjunct faculty at Saybrook University Graduate Studies Program. The author of numerous books, including Living Your Unlived Life, Dr. Ruhl lectures and provides workshops across the nation. The series is co-sponsored by Ligmincha Texas Institute, The Jung Center of Houston, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, and the Rothko Chapel.
