Father Cyprian Consiglio
Christian
Cyprian Consiglio is a monk of the Camaldolese Congregation, musician, composer, author, and teacher. He lived for ten years at New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur, serving for eight years as liturgist, choir director and teacher. Cyprian currently lives at Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz, California; he spends about half his time at home writing and composing, and half his time on the raod performing and teaching. He has five collections of original music recorded and published through OCP Publications, and another collection with his long-time collaborator, percussionist John Pennington, release through the Equilibrium label. Cyprian has also composed an oratorio, "The Song of Luke" that premiered a the Animas Music Festival in Durango, Colorado in May 2002. A student of the writings of Bede Griffiths, Cyprian also has a great love for comparative religion, has done work in interfaith ritual, and has been to India twice to study and teach music and liturgy.
