Abstract
Husain Haqqani’s Thursday, March 6th Lecture To Be Rescheduled
Due to the current political situation in Pakistan, Husain Haqqani has had to cancel his lecture, “Human Rights in Pakistan and the War of Ideas in Islam,” scheduled for this Thursday, March 6 at 7:30.
Haqqani sent us this message: “…I would have loved to come and deliver the talk at the Rothko Chapel, however, due to the changing situation in Pakistan I have had to travel to Pakistan in an emergency. I flew to Pakistan last night and will be there for the next few weeks…. I was looking forward to the event but I am sure you will understand the reasons why I have had to cancel the engagement.…”
We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. Mr. Haqqani told us that he is willing to come at another time, and we will send out notices as soon as the event is rescheduled. We hope you will join us then.
Husain Haqqani is Director of the Center for International Relations and Professor at Boston University. He is Co-Chair of the Hudson Institute’s Project on the Future of the Muslim World as well as editor of the journal Current Trends in Islamist Ideology published from Washington DC. He has served as advisor to three Pakistani Prime Ministers and as Pakistan’s ambassador to Sri Lanka. His syndicated column is published in several newspapers in South Asia and the Middle East.
Haqqani's recent publications include Pakistan Between Mosque and Military (Book, Carnegie Endowment, 2005); Think Again: The Causes of Islamist Terrorism (Foreign Policy, January 2006); History Repeats Itself in Pakistan (Journal of Democracy, October 2006); Pakistan and the Islamists (Current History, April 2007).
