Join in remembering the lives of migrants who died in their attempts to cross the U.S.-Mexico border. The Day of the Dead is the time to invoke, welcome, and celebrate loved ones who have died. This year, the Rothko Chapel honors those who died in South Texas as a result of militarized borders. Last year 129 migrant bodies were recovered in Brooks County, 60-miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border. More than 70 have died so far this year. These deaths add to the thousands of migrant border crossers who have died in recent years due to policies that criminalize the working poor and limit human mobility. All are invited to attend a ceremony that includes reading the names of the fallen and remembering the unidentified. In addition, the ceremony appreciates those engaged in the ongoing struggles to promote human rights on both sides of the border.
